What I've been watching & enjoyed

All stuff Jess & I have watched recently and enjoyed

TV Shows:

  • Owl House (Disney+) - on a level with Avatar the Last Airbender for me, its amazing to me that Disney picked up a show with a Latina/Nero-divergent/Bisexual lead and it's heartwarming to boot

  • She-Ra (Netflix/Dreamworks) - on a level with Avatar the Last Airbender for me, when first watching it felt a bit "extra" but I quickly got over the 10-20 second transformation sequence since the characters are lovable, relatable and magical

  • Kipo and the Age of the Wonder Beasts (Netflix/Dreamworks)

  • Maya and the Three (Netflix) - nice to see more Mexican history/culture representation in new shows, it was also nice that the story had a specific arc and ended

  • Only Murderers in the Building (Hulu)

  • Kid Cosmic (Netflix) - weird but enjoyable

  • Carmen Sandiego (Netflix) - cute, informative and amazing to see a female bond/robin-hood type character

  • The Dragon Prince (Netflix) - on a level with Avatar the Last Airbender

  • The Umbrella Academy (Netflix) - I really enjoyed this take on superheros and adoptive families, though the end of the first season will be triggering for anyone who has experienced abuse the second season more than made up for it

  • Star vs. the Forces of Evil (Disney) - really cute and fun mindless kid show

Movies:

  • Wish Dragon (Netflix) - this is a repeater for me, I love that the message is friendship can come before attraction

  • The Mitchell's vs the Machines (Netflix) - this is a repeater for me, and it feels super relatable not only for the family dynamics but the larger context of tech in our lives

  • Thunder Force (Netflix) - this was cute, and nice to see a super hero movie that doesn't take itself too seriously especially in the age of Marvel movies being released every other month

  • Luca (Pixar) - this is a repeater for me

  • Raya and the Last Dragon (Disney) - this is a repeater for me
